Bingo – Call the Numbers

When you go play bingo in a club, hall or at a church fete, the person who calls the numbers tries to make the game more interesting. The way he or she calls the numbers adds excitement to the game. Just simply calling out the numbers can be quite boring and a player can miss hearing a number. So to make sure that everyone hears the number called there has to be total silence and the person calling out the numbers has to have a clear voice. They use terms like ‘all by itself number four, ‘top of the house ninety’, ‘unlucky for some number thirteen’. Players who are familiar with bongo recognize the number called by the way they are being called. This makes the game more exciting. Conducting bingo games by church pastors is a very old tradition. The catholic churches in America got permission from the Pope to hold bingo games to raise money for their churches. When the game was invented in Italy it was called beano.

Players used to place beans on the numbers called on their tickets. This allowed the tickets to be reused. Later on pencils and pens were used to mark the called numbers. There are two forms of bingo which are the seventy-five or the ninety-version. The rules are the same it’s only the rows and columns on the ticket that differ. Bingo has been played for centuries now and hopefully it will be played for centuries to come. The thrill of winning and having a good time will keep drawing people into playing bingo.

uk bingo halls have an outdated reputation for been full of the older generation enjoying half a bitter while somneone equally as old reads out numvers at quite a slow rate. I can confirm this is not he case though, i went to a night at mecca bingo the other night and it was nothing but lively, the caller was even entertaining. highly reccomended!
